Counselling

I offer a warm, compassionate approach where I listen with an open heart and hold what you bring to counselling with care, non-judgement and respect.

I am an integrative counsellor and my work is rooted in a person-centred approach. The models of care I integrate into my practice are Compassion Focussed Therapy, Focussing, Emotion Focussed Therapy, Therapeutic Creative Expression, Embodied Therapy, Ecosomatics and Ecotherapy.

I work in a client led, trauma informed way where we collaboratively establish a safe space as a foundation to building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I welcome you to express as much or as little as you feel comfortable, and emphasise that all your emotions are welcome without judgement. I bring curiosity to the process, stemming from a deep honouring of the human capacity to feel and be moved by what we go through in life.

Together we will explore what you are holding, and how this is impacting you in your life now. Whether there is something from the past, or something more recent that is feeling hard to handle on your own, the counselling process offers support while you gain deeper insights about your life, yourself and your relationships. I will guide you to find clarity on how you would like to navigate what is happening. I endeavour to work in a way that empowers you, that acknowledges and appreciates your unique qualities and ways of moving through life, drawing on your inner resources and skills which hold you as well as other branches of support around you.

My approach to counselling acknowledges how structural conditions and systems of oppression can contribute to the wounds and challenges we face. I work in a non-pathologising way, placing trust in the body’s physical and emotional responses to harmful situations. I try to understand what happened that may have caused distress, and support you to get in touch with an embodied sense of warmth, self-compassion and self-trust.

During my career I have built experience of working with issues related to trauma, disability, chronic health conditions, Chronic Fatigue, neurodivergence, Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP), relationship challenges, sexuality, gender, pregnancy, the menstrual cycle, anxiety, depression, loss and grief, life transitions, low self-esteem and abuse.

Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis.

I work online or outdoors in a local green space in Bristol.

The outdoor sessions include ecotherapy and ecosomatic practices which offer the therapeutic qualities of being in a green space, exploring a sense of kinship with nature and tending to the nervous system.
