Ecotherapy

As well as online counselling, I offer outdoor talk therapy which combines counselling with being outside in nature.

Much can happen when we bring our thoughts, feelings and expressions to the more-than-human world. A conversation opens with the wider environment around us. This dialogue is happening through our senses and our nervous system, which brings us into our bodies, into the present and in connection with ourselves. From here we can begin to notice our kinship with nature, creating an opportunity to explore and interact with the living landscape, and perhaps how this speaks to our inner landscape too.

Outdoor sessions could draw on talk therapy, sensory practices, ecosomatics, mindfulness and creative therapy, inviting space and time for reflection, enquiry and integration. We can jointly agree to use these techniques, if relevant, as we go.

Ecosomatics is a way of resourcing the body. Using embodiment activities such as listening and movement, it supports us to make contact with a sense of safety, connection and grounding. It combines developing kinship with nature and tending to the nervous system.

I have three set outdoor locations in Bristol. You can choose to meet along a countryside river walk, amongst a historic woodland, or up a hill in a nature reserve with views far and wide.

The sessions will be tailored to your access needs, and can vary from long walks to finding a quiet sit spot. Sessions are 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed by us. There is a wheel-chair accessible location, and all locations are away from loud and busy parts of the city making them accessible for those with sensory needs.
